Fall in the Lake Tahoe basin is a wonderful time of changing leaves, crisp weather, and often sunny warm days. The crowds of Summer are long gone, but the Winter visitors have not yet arrived. If you’re spending time up in Tahoe this Fall, you may be wondering how to celebrate Halloween this weekend. The weather is shaping up to be clear and cool with highs in the 50’s during the days and lows in the mid-30s. It should be a beautiful weekend to enjoy some spooky good times, great music, and fabulous company at all of these great events in the area.
Start your weekend off with a fabulous family-friendly downtown celebration in Historic Downtown Truckee. The annual Halloween Parade is a fun event held on the Friday before Halloween each year starting at 6pm sharp. This year, it is Friday 10/28, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to find parking and a great spot for a view of this popular event. The parade goes through downtown and is followed by Trick-or-treating through the Community Arts Center. Businesses along the Historic Downtown corridor go all out with decorations and the vibe is fantastic. The weather is predicted to be clear and in the 40’s for the evening, so dress warm and be ready for a good time for all ages!
If you’re looking for some time to let loose for some adult Halloween fun on Saturday 10/29, the annual Creeper’s Ball at the Crystal Bay Club in Crystal Bay, NV can’t be beat. Tainted Love Band is a 1980’s pop cover band that “delivers something for every fan of music: pulsing dance beats, fist-pumping rock anthems and guilty-pleasure sing-alongs, all performed with the highest level of musicianship and state-of-the-art sound and lighting”. The show starts at 9pm and is a well-attended, well-loved annual tradition in North Lake Tahoe. Plan for a safe ride home using the TART Connect App or local taxis like Anytime Taxi (530-414-4187) or Tahoe Taxi Express (530-386-5559). Advance purchase of tickets is highly recommended and can be purchased at this link:
On Halloween day, join in the fun in Downtown Tahoe City for a very fun family and pet-friendly Trick-or-Treating experience from 4pm-6pm. Businesses and residents alike are dressed to the nines and handing out candy and delighting kids. The official event is from 4-6pm, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to find parking and make your way downtown. Public parking lots can be found off of Grove St behind Fat Cat Restaurant as well as off of Commons Beach Rd near the Community Arts Center.
